MORGANTOWN, W.Va. — The first brick-and-mortar charter school in West Virginia is ready to start another year at its Morgantown location. The West Virginia Academy will kick off its fifth year of operation on Monday, when it will welcome just over 250 students for the 2026-27 school year. Honeycutt added that the curriculum for high school students includes a crucial community involvement portion that’s included as a requirement for graduation. The West Virginia Academy still accepts new applicants despite the school year starting, with students of all age grades being open for enrollment. With the school graduating its first ever graduating class last year, Honeycutt is excited to see what the 2026-27 school year brings.
