MACON, Georgia (41NBC/WMGT) — Macon officially launched the Advanced Manufacturing Pathway (AMP) program Monday morning, giving students at the Innovation and Technology Academy hands-on access to cutting-edge advanced manufacturing equipment. Instructor Terry Nance said the program addresses a direct need from local employers who are looking for job-ready candidates with specialized knowledge. “A lot of the industry — all of the industry in the area — needs highly technical people,” Nance said. “They need people that can walk in the door and understand what an HMI is, understand what a human machine interface is, understand what statistical process control is.
