Hyderabad: The Supreme Court has granted major relief to key irrigation projects in Telangana, including Palamuru-Rangareddy, Seethamma Sagar, and Gouravelli Reservoir. A bench led by Justice Surya Kant stated that this ruling applies exclusively to future projects, clarifying that there will be no legal hurdles for ongoing construction work on these vital state irrigation projects. At the same time, the Court emphasized that prior environmental clearances remain mandatory for new projects undertaken in the future. State Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao welcomed the Supreme Court verdict protecting environmental clearances for Telangana irrigation projects. The Minister extended special thanks to Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Irrigation Minister Uttam Kumar Reddy, and concerned officials for their dedicated efforts in securing necessary environmental clearances for the state’s major irrigation projects.
