A Victorian man who died in a single vehicle crash in Melbourne overnight has been identified. Matt Barrett, a 38-year-old man from Blind Bight, was returning home from an eight-ball pool competition with a group of friends when the car he was in crashed into a tree in Beaumaris. Footage from the scene shows parts of the vehicle had been ripped off as the car careened off the road and into a tree. A young man has been arrested after a car crash in south Melbourne critically injured one passenger and killed another. Barrett’s family released a statement this morning, saying he lived more in his years that most people do in a lifetime.
