At around 1.45am, Police received reports of a man allegedly in possession of a large metal pole on Great South Road. Counties Manukau South Area Prevention Manager, Inspector Matt Hoyes, says the man then used the pole to allegedly smash a supermarket’s storefront windows, causing significant damage. As the man exited the store, he ignored instructions to drop the metal pole and fled on foot. “Fresh information later connected the man to damage allegedly caused to a premises on O’Shannessey Street earlier in the night,” Inspector Hoyes says.
