Haridwar: Guru Purnima was celebrated with spiritual fervour at Patanjali Yoga Bhavan, Phase II, where Swami Ramdev and Acharya Balkrishna highlighted the timeless significance of the Guru-Shishya (guru-disciple) tradition. Addressing thousands of disciples, Swami Ramdev urged young people to make their parents, grandparents and great personalities their role models instead of film stars. “Our ideals should be Lord Ram, Lord Krishna, Lord Shiva, sages and our elders,” he said, adding that parents and grandparents are the greatest guides in life. Swami Ramdev also defended the Guru-Shishya tradition, saying some people wrongly describe it as “slavery” while remaining enslaved to luxury, addictions and materialism. He praised Acharya Balkrishna as a living example of the Acharya tradition.
