Norton played Ormund with a theatrical—at times almost preening—bravado that made him fun to watch and even more fun to root against. It’s a memorable death in a franchise full of memorable deaths, and one that Norton seemingly had a blast filming. So I guess in some way, Ormund knows that he’s probably going to perish. But at the same time, I really, really wanted to show a sense of paternal pride. Everyone working on House of the Dragon goes so much further than they need to because they really love the world of the show.
