Khammam: Thousands of tribal devotees from the Agency areas converged on the famed Sri Sita Ramachandra Swamy temple at Bhadrachalam on Wednesday to participate in the annual Dammakka Seva Yatra, a unique spiritual tradition commemorating the unwavering devotion of Pokala Dammakka, revered for rediscovering and worshipping the idols of Lord Rama in the forest.
The hill shrine reverberated with chants of “Jai Shri Ram” as devotees carried fruits, flowers and traditional offerings for the presiding deities.
The ceremonial procession, led by temple priests amid Vedic chants and traditional musical ensembles, carried a portrait of Pokala Dammakka in a symbolic circumambulation of the sacred hill.
A major attraction of the celebrations was the celestial wedding (Kalyanotsavam) of Lord Sri Rama and Goddess Sita.
Many tribal devotees, witnessing the ritual for the first time, described it as a rare and unforgettable spiritual experience.
