To help improve traffic flow, the City of Bend plans to remove a turn lane median on Greenwood Avenue between NE First and NE Second streets and extend the length of the eastbound, left-turn lane at NE Third Street. This will create more space for eastbound vehicles to queue in the left-turn lane before turning north. Currently, left-turning vehicles occasionally back up during peak travel hours and slow eastbound traffic. The City will close the inside eastbound lane while working in the middle of the roadway and the outside eastbound lane will remain open. After the curb is removed, the City will place delineators down the middle of the road to continue to prevent left turns onto NE Second Street.
