The Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) has decided to ban the circulation of cosmetic products intended for external use that are packaged in forms resembling pharmaceutical products, such as ampoules, vials, and syringes, effective from January 1, 2027. In a recent circular addressed to cosmetic product manufacturers and importers, the SFDA stated that it had observed the circulation of certain cosmetic products intended for external use in packaging that mimics pharmaceutical forms, including ampoules, vials, and syringes. The SFDA stressed the need to comply with the following conditions for the circulation of such products: First: The circulation of cosmetic products in the form of syringes is prohibited. Second: The following instructions must be printed clearly and legibly, in both Arabic and English, on the inner and outer packaging of products marketed in the form of ampoules and vials: A. Cosmetic product for external use only.
