Sonoma County first responders raced against rising tides Saturday to rescue a person who fell 30 feet off a coastal cliff.
According to the Press Democrat, the victim landed on the rocky shore below Ocean Cove Campground, where brave bystanders climbed down to apply a makeshift leg splint.
With waves breaking nearby, the sheriff’s helicopter unit, Henry-1, performed a longline extraction to lift the injured person to safety.
The victim was airlifted to a waiting Sonoma County Fire District helicopter and rushed to a local trauma center with severe injuries.
Officials say the quick coordination was critical to getting the patient off the rocks before water engulfed the area.
