AdvertisementIn an updated strategic outline business case (SOBC) last month, the GSA said that ‘full reinstatement scenarios [were] not affordable without substantial external funding and partnership support’. It also acknowledged that the school didn’t need the Mackintosh Building in order to continue ‘to deliver its core purpose’. Reacting to the school’s announcements, Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society director Matthew Williams said: ‘Given its recent statements, the GSA no longer has the credibility to spearhead a world-class reconstruction project. Last week, the Victorian Society said it was ‘deeply concerned’ that the GSA was ‘unable to pursue the full reinstatement of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s Building without substantial additional funding’. The Charles Rennie Mackintosh Society has said it will set out further details of its intentions at a later date.
