MTA unveils new plan to cool down NYC subway stations. Will it work — and how?

But city officials say that cost would go way down if a steamy subway station transfers its heat to nearby offices.
The excess subway heat would be stored beneath an unused Chambers Street platform.
While commuters may be skeptical the plan will cool off platforms anytime soon, the event did cool off a simmering disagreement between the MTA chairman and the mayor over Mamdani’s plan to make buses free.
