PORTLAND, N.D. – An attempted ATM theft in Traill County is under investigation. Sheriff Steve Hunt tells Flag Family News that the investigation is active and ongoing, but involves an ATM at First Community Credit Union in Portland. “The would-be thieves attempted to steal the ATM by using a chain and truck to pull it free of its anchors,” he said. “The thieves were not able to gain access to the money but did cause extensive damage to the ATM.” Hunt said no other information is available at this time, citing the investigation.
