Several pedestrians have been hit at that intersection in the past and the county and state have looked at different ways to make it safer for people walking and biking. The DOT rep says the project has a budget of $150,000 and is funded through the state’s Pedestrian and Bicycle Safety Program. During the meeting, Commissioners asked Malkin to invite the DOT to come talk to county residents in a town hall meeting or at least a Commissioners meeting before the installation.
