Sonia Kinyua/Houston Public MediaLeague City voters may get to decide whether or not the city continues to use Flock cameras around the area.
If voters decide they don't want the cameras, the city will pay off its contract with Flock Safety, the company that provides Flock cameras, and create a "path to unwind it," Long said.
Currently, the League City Police Department has 55 Flock cameras with another 16 in the TxDOT permitting process, according to the city.
League City began installing Flock cameras in 2022 after it was approved by city council members, according to Houston Chronicle reporting.
If League City council members decide to add the referendum to ballots, voters would decide the fate of the cameras during the Nov. 3 general election.
