GT World Challenge Australia driver Brendon Leitch was suited up and a matter of minutes away from boarding the historic Mazda 767B sports car when it combusted. “During yesterday’s Monterey Motorsports Pre-Reunion event, Mazda 767B #203 was involved in a paddock fire,” McIntosh’s team said in a statement. Not to be confused with the 787B that won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1991, the 767B was the predecessor. The other car, chassis 767-002, is owned by Todd Flis and is part of Mazda’s heritage collection.
