He repeated his previous statements that the fund, despite its enormous size, is not immune to severe market downturns. He went further to state that not only could the fund endure a major unexpected loss, but in a worst‑case scenario, its entire valuation could vanish completely. Speaking at a political conference held in the coastal city of Arendal in southern Norway, Nicolai Tangen characterized the current state of global finance as deeply unusual. He pointed out that financial markets have continued their upward trajectory, defying a host of persistent challenges including inflationary pressures, interest rate volatility, and geopolitical flashpoints.
