Former University President Michael Schill resigned and was replaced by former and interim University President Henry Bienen, who led NU from September to June as the search for its new president unfolded. Meanwhile, a presidential search committee, established in December, spent much of the academic year looking for NU’s 18th president, including gathering input from the University community. In May, the highly-anticipated news broke early on a Monday morning: Purdue University President Mung Chiang would take over NU’s reins beginning July 1. It reaffirmed antisemitism initiatives on campus and covered issues ranging from admissions and hiring practices to on-campus demonstrations and protests.
