In 1979, the original Foster School, once the heart of Evanston’s historically Black 5th Ward, closed its doors. Nearly 50 years later, Evanston/Skokie School District 65 unveiled the neighborhood’s new Foster School, drawing hundreds of community members to a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday afternoon.
