The newly founded company Liebherr-Aerospace Technology (Shanghai) Co. Ltd. held its official groundbreaking ceremony at the Large Aircraft Industrial Park in Shanghai’s Lingang New Area. The groundbreaking event is a significant step for Liebherr as it deepens its local presence in China, the company said. “The plant will focus on establishing local production capabilities for high-strength structural steel components critical to aircraft landing gear systems along with supporting advanced surface treatment processes,” Liebherr said. “This initiative will effectively cut long-distance logistics and transportation costs for the C919 landing gear system and improve service and response efficiency.” Upon completion, the Liebherr plant is expected to create an integrated regional support hub covering precision machining as well as surface treatment, and provide on-site support for COMAC’s C919 production.
