CARROLLTON PD DISBANDS AS SHERIFF’S OFFICE ASSUMES TOWN’S LAW ENFORCEMENT
[]
KMMO – Marshall, MO
After 193 years of service, the Carrollton Police Department is no more.
The department formally suspended operations Sunday, Aug. 9 at 8 a.m., with the Carroll County Sheriff’s Office assuming responsibility of the town’s law enforcement.
The move comes following a two-year agreement approved last week by the Carrollton Town Council with the sheriff’s office and Carroll County Commission.
As of Sunday morning, the sheriff’s office is responsible for enforcing the town’s criminal and traffic ordinances.
Town residents needing an emergency response from law enforcement are asked to dial 911 or the county’s E911 dispatch at 660-542-3911.
