A collision involving a pedestrian near the Missouri Valley College campus Monday, Aug. 10 has resulted in one person being rushed to hospital, with the vehicle’s driver now behind bars with charges pending. The Marshall Police Department, Marshall Fire and Saline County Ambulance responded to the collision around 7:50 a.m. near the intersection of Conway and Morrow streets. Police say that a white Toyota Camry that was westbound on Morrow failed to yield to a pedestrian that was proceeding south in the crosswalk, and struck the pedestrian. The 19-year-old pedestrian was flown to a Columbia hospital, while the 27-year-old driver of the vehicle was taken into custody. Police say they are continuing their investigation, with plans to submit the case to the Saline County Prosecutor’s Office for review and consideration of formal charges.
