For dealers, this move marked a pivot toward self-policing, requiring them to adhere to FTC Section 5 expectations and avoid regulatory fines.
Nevertheless, with platform penalties, potential lender restrictions, and incoming litigation stemming from FTC warning letters, active compliance is no longer optional.
