General Motors and SAIC Motor extended their joint venture 20 years through 2047, targeting new growth in China’s rapidly shifting auto market.
The joint venture has identified the Middle East, Africa, South America, Mexico, and the Asia-Pacific region as potential growth markets.
GM indicated that this strategy will let the joint venture leverage China’s development capabilities and speed in selected global markets.
GM and SAIC formed the joint venture in 1997, and SAIC-GM has produced and delivered more than 20 million vehicles since then.
