A federal judge on Friday granted AFGE’s motion to enforce a preliminary injunction that earlier this year ordered VA to uphold its collective bargaining agreement while a lawsuit continued. The collective bargaining agreement between VA and AFGE allows for an automatic, temporary extension of the existing contract while negotiations for a new contract proceed. Days after VA officials outlined plans to end the contract, the union requested that the court enforce its preliminary injunction and order VA to maintain the collective bargaining agreement as the lawsuit continued. The collective bargaining agreement with AFGE’s National Veterans Affairs Council (NVAC) covers about 320,000 department employees.
