Today is poll worker recruitment day, and Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate wants to educate the public on the importance of those positions. Secretary Pate explains why poll workers matter, “Poll workers are the unsung heroes of our elections. Secretary Pate is hosting a free online webinar this Wednesday, August 12th, at 11 a.m., called “Poll Workers: Iowa’s Election Heroes.” Topics of the webinar will include, what is a poll worker, why poll workers are critical to Iowa’s elections, firsthand experiences from current poll workers, and how to sign up to be a poll worker. Poll workers must be eligible registered voters and residents of the county in which they serve, and must complete required training before Election Day.
