GTA housing market tightens in July

Greater Toronto Area (GTA) resale housing market conditions tightened in July 2026 compared the same month one year ago.
According to the Toronto Regional Real Estate Board (TRREB), this suggests that active homebuyers faced more competition from other potential purchasers.
Many would-be homebuyers are waiting for confidence in the market and broader economy to improve before making a purchase.
The price of a townhouse across the GTA in July averaged at $817,213, down 3.9 per cent.
“Removing remaining municipal roadblocks to attainable housing is a pressing issue in the GTA and Simcoe County,” said TRREB CEO John DiMichele.
