Freeman, the longtime executive director of Bike Newport, has been pushing RIDOT for two years to get some signs posted. Next to the Aquidneck Island Greenway, the Park & Ride offers easy bus access to downtown Newport and Jamestown. The lack of Park & Ride signage is hardly Freeman’s only concern with the revamped North End transportation labyrinth. During my July 12 visit to the lot, Freeman pointed out the 5-inch-high curb cut that surrounds the bus shelter. The curb that surrounds the bus shelter at the Newport Park & Ride isn’t friendly for the elderly or for those using wheelchairs or walkers.
