Sanghani’s candidature gives India a prominent presence in the global cooperative movement at a time when the country is pursuing an ambitious expansion of its cooperative sector. The 2026 ICA General Assembly will elect the ICA President and 15 At-Large Directors who will serve on the Global Board. For Sanghani, the election provides an opportunity for India to further strengthen its voice in global cooperative policymaking. The ICA Global Board has a wide-ranging governance mandate. The Panama election will therefore mark a key opportunity for ICA members to shape the organisation’s global leadership and priorities for the next four years.
