Lincoln Square recently reported on the growing GOP plan to ban no-fault divorce. Research shows that in the wake of no-fault divorce, which allows women to leave marriages without having to prove adultery or abuse, domestic violence dropped 30%. Lincoln Square looked at the data from Texas, which is considering legislation to repeal no-fault divorce. Deevers backed the bill after writing a piece declaring no-fault divorce was an “abolition of marital obligation.” And among the lesser-known proposals in Project 2025–many of which the Trump administration is pursuing–was ending no-fault divorce.
