August 7, 2026Ogallala — on Thursday late evening, August 6, 2026, a Keith County family experienced a devastating tragedy. Law enforcement, emergency crews, and hospital staff worked to save him but unfortunately the young boy passed away. In the same incident, a 5-year-old girl from another Keith County family was saved but had to be air-flighted out to Colorado for additional medical services. The Keith County Sheriff’s Office, Keith County EMS and Nebraska Game and Parks responded to the call as well as assistance being provided by local residents. Thanks to the Keith County EMS, emergency personnel, Keith County Sheriff’s office, Game and Parks Conservation Officers and others I am probably forgetting or didn’t notice there last night for all their hard work and responsiveness.
