Devastated by the loss of 29-year-old Tasia Fortune, her family and community are demanding a full, transparent investigation after her body was found hanging behind an abandoned Jackson home on Aug. 3. The Hinds County Coroner’s Office confirmed her identity, but police are awaiting autopsy results to determine the cause of death. Her sister, LaToni, recalled their close bond, sharing that Fortune frequently traveled back to Kentucky to visit. “She just comes back to Kentucky and visits us, or we’ll go to Jackson and visit her,” she told Mississippi Today. And there must be a complete and transparent investigation into what happened to her.”
