The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is probing into a weekend officer-involved shooting that left a Tennessee man dead. Investigators learned that 47-year-old Russell Kelly Jr. of Memphis had allegedly shot and killed a woman inside the property. The incident escalated into a nearly 10-hour standoff as Kelly barricaded himself inside and repeatedly fired at law enforcement. The Mississippi Bureau of Investigation is currently leading the inquiry into the officer-involved shooting, as is standard practice in the state. Authorities have not yet released the identity of the woman killed inside the home prior to the standoff.
