New Delhi: Describing Ajinkya Rahane's career as a fine example of what it means to put the team first, BCCI President Mithun Manhas on Thursday paid rich tributes to the former India captain, who announced his retirement from international cricket. The most defining time of his international career came when he became India’s stand-in captain in the 2020/21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy series, held during the Covid-19 pandemic. "Ajinkya Rahane's career is a fine example of what it means to put the team first. “His leadership during the 2020-21 Border-Gavaskar Trophy will forever remain one of the defining chapters in Indian Cricket. “On behalf of the BCCI, I congratulate Ajinkya on a distinguished international career and wish him every success in the years ahead," said Manhas in a statement issued by the BCCI.
