It’s the End of an Era: 7Up Changed Its Formula, and Is No Longer a “Lemon-Lime” Soda

It’s the end of an era: For the first time in over 15 years, 7Up is changing its recipe. Now, it will no longer be a “lemon-lime” soda. They’re tweaking the formula to be more LIME forward, and they’re doing it across the full lineup, including Zero Sugar, Cherry 7Up, and Cherry Zero Sugar. They say 72% of Gen Alpha and Gen Z consumers gravitate toward citrus-forward flavors, and 64% prefer bold, intense taste experiences. She added that there’s SLIGHTLY more lime zest flavor, and it seems SLIGHTLY less sweet, but it’s barely noticeable.
