File photoFarmBill-RFP-081726Senate Agriculture Committee Chairman John Boozman, R-Ark., said Friday he plans a vote on Farm Bill 2.0 as soon as Sept. 15, the second day the Senate is scheduled to be in session in September.
The committee failed to advance the bill to the Senate floor at a committee meeting on Thursday.
The bill Boozman and the Republicans offered the committee says that states must begin paying a portion of SNAP benefits in fiscal year 2029.
In a call to reporters on Friday, Boozman said the states are guilty of “gross mismanagement” of the SNAP program.
But when he was asked if the race of Sen. Amy Klobuchar, D-Minn., the ranking member on the committee, for governor of Minnesota is getting in the way of the bill, Boozman said he doesn’t think so.
