Female student drivers allege they were subjected to unlawful policies and practices, according to a discrimination lawsuit filed against a trucking school operating in Texas and Mississippi.
The EEOC said that among these conditions was the trucking school’s decision to adopt the male trainers’ decision to opt out of training female student drivers instead of providing separate sleeping quarters during training.
EEOC’s lawsuit also claims that the trucking school refused to pay female student drivers who opted to receive instruction from female trainers while they waited for one to be available.
All other student drivers who opted for a male trainer were paid while they waited to start their training.
The EEOC said the trucking school’s conduct violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964, prohibiting sex discrimination in employment.
