A 36-year-old Mississippi man was sentenced to 40 years in prison after pleading guilty to sexual battery and aggravated domestic violence.
Judge Calvin Taylor sentenced Logan Richard Barber, of Lucedale, to 40 years in the custody of the Mississippi Department of Corrections.
Under the sentence, Barber must serve 25 years day-for-day without the possibility of parole, followed by 15 years on post-release supervision.
An investigation revealed that Barber had assaulted the victim and held her captive inside a camper before she was able to escape and seek help.
District Attorney Angel Myers McIlrath emphasized that domestic violence will face strict prosecution regardless of the relationship between the parties.
