Blur’s Dave Rowntree ‘nagged’ Oasis about reunion: “I would like a percentage of the gross tour revenue”Now that the feud between Blur and Oasis has been firmly put to bed, Dave Rowntree says he wants a cut of the profits from the Gallagher brothers’ latest success.
Throughout their respective most prolific stints at the height of Britpop in the 1990s, the two bands often found themselves at loggerheads with one another, most infamously with the chart battle that Blur won in 1995.
However, in the aftermath of Oasis’ triumphant comeback tour which kicked off last summer, Damon Albarn was forced to admit that in the long run, his Mancunian rivals “won the battle”.
For his own part, Rowntree reflected on the benefits that the Britpop battle brought both bands in his latest interview.
Even now, some three decades on, the drummer described the relationship between Blur and Oasis as being “stapled together at the hip.
