However, in the aftermath of Oasis’ triumphant comeback tour which kicked off last summer, Damon Albarn was forced to admit that in the long run, his Mancunian rivals “won the battle”. For his own part, Rowntree reflected on the benefits that the Britpop battle brought both bands in his latest interview. Even now, some three decades on, the drummer described the relationship between Blur and Oasis as being “stapled together at the hip.
