In 2016, Bob Dylan became the second person to win both an Oscar and a Nobel Prize, making history as the first-ever musician and songwriter to bag the latter accolade “for having created new poetic expressions within the great American song tradition”, while he won the former 15 years ago.
In 1925, the Irish comic dramatist and socialist propagandist was awarded the Nobel Prize for his work “marked by both idealism and humanity, its stimulating satire often being infused with a singular poetic beauty”.
