Lucas pointed to the Northern Arapaho Tribe’s sacred pipe and its ceremonial and spiritual use, calling it idol worship.
“Our responsibility is to protect our people, our culture, and our sovereign authority,” Northern Arapaho Business Council Chairman Keenan Groesbeck said.
It is about respecting the sovereign government of the Northern Arapaho Tribe.
Lucas has also expressed a commitment to continue her mission of bringing people to Jesus at the reservation church.
Though protesters consider their message to be one of high stakes for the Northern Arapaho Tribe, Sundays have been filled with laughter and music.
