Central Luzon (Region 3) and the Ilocos Region (Region 1) recorded the highest numbers of affected students, the DepEd data showed. The suspensions come as the southwest monsoon, enhanced by Typhoon Maymay, continued to bring heavy rains and flooding to several parts of the country. Local government units have been suspending in-person classes in affected areas as a precautionary measure, shifting learners to alternative modes of instruction where possible. DepEd has yet to issue an update on when full in-person classes are expected to resume in the affected regions.
