Devendra Fadnavis, the chief minister of Maharashtra, will move his office from Mantralaya, the state administration, to Mumbai's iconic Air India building. The state has been experiencing a shortage of office space in desirable South Mumbai neighborhoods close to Mantralaya. This building was one of Air India's non-core assets that were acquired by Air India Assets Holding Limited (AIAHL) following the company's privatization and takeover by the Tata Group. The top floor will house the chief minister's office, while a 13,363-square-foot area on the 22nd floor will house the cabinet hall. Meanwhile, the transfer of the Air India building to the Maharashtra government represents a significant milestone in bolstering the state's administrative infrastructure, according to Shivendrasinh Bhosale, minister of Maharashtra's public works department (PWD).
