Meta announced Monday a new $1 billion fund to support communities where the company owns, operates or is developing data centers, including Montgomery. Meta described the initiative as part of a “community compact” between technology companies and communities that host data centers. The company expanded its Montgomery data center project in September 2025, increasing its total investment in the capital region to more than $1.5 billion. The community investment announcement comes as Meta expands its commitment to open-source artificial intelligence. Meta said the community fund, new AI models and continued investment in data center communities are part of its broader vision of artificial intelligence as a tool for individual opportunity, technological innovation and widely shared economic growth.
