The lens is particularly appealing for compact cameras such as the Panasonic Lumix S9 ($1,197 on Amazon) or the Sigma bf, as its metal body is just 36.2 millimeters long with a diameter of 69 millimeters.
The lens features a 52-millimeter filter thread and supports autofocus.
SG-Image employs a design consisting of seven lenses in five groups, as well as a nine-blade aperture.
As the manufacturer’s MTF curves show, the lens is still supposed to produce sharp images in the center of the frame, it is only in the corners that the SG-Image AF 35 mm f/2.2 loses sharpness drastically at wide-open aperture.
The sample photos clearly show that the lens does not offer particularly high contrast, giving the photos a look reminiscent of older retro lenses.
