Tennis players in Wake Forest will need to find alternate courts beginning later this month as the Flaherty Park tennis courts close for a major renovation project. The Wake Forest Parks, Recreation & Cultural Resources Department announced the courts at 1226 N. White St. will close Monday, Aug. 24, for construction expected to modernize the facility. An accessible sidewalk will also be constructed connecting the tennis courts to the Flaherty Park Community Center. Players can also use the Millbrook Exchange Tennis Center in Raleigh, which offers 23 lighted public courts with walk-up play available when courts are open, or Spring Forest Road Park in northeast Raleigh, which features four lighted courts and practice backboards. The town has not announced a reopening date for the renovated Flaherty Park courts
