Thursday Rain Delays Sewer ProjectOOLTEWAH, Tenn. (WDEF) – Heavy rain Thursday caused problems for a sewer project on Green Shanty Road in Hamilton County, forcing crews to do additional work. Brandon Mauracher, director of the Hamilton County Highway Department, says the project was roughly 50% complete when the rain caused sections of the 12-foot-deep trench to collapse around the sewer lines. The Highway Department is handling permitting because the work is taking place on a county road. Crews are installing new sewer service lines and repairing portions of the main sewer line. The daily closures on Green Shanty Road have been extended, with the road now expected to reopen Sunday, August 23.
