‘Ring By Spring’: A View Into Christian College Dating Culture

Stepping onto the campus of Taylor University, a small Christian school in Indiana, in the fall of 2014, the initiation into the niche dating culture began before we even started classes.
It was one of many traditions on the tiny campus in the middle of the Indiana cornfields at this Christian college designed to break the ice and get the genders mingling.
Our campus wasn’t unique.
“Ring by spring” culture is prevalent on almost every U.S. Christian college campus and in many secular schools with strong campus ministry programs.
She grew up a missionary kid, and when her family wasn’t overseas spreading the Gospel, she attended a Presbyterian church and a small Christian high school in the Midwest.
