A class 2 misdemeanor charge against Richard Propster, a teacher of West Grand School District, was dismissed on Aug. 3 by Grand County Court Judge Nicholas Catanzarite.
On March 2, a deputy with the Grand County Sheriff’s Office responded to an alleged verbal altercation at West Grand High School involving Propster, a 36-year-old, and a student.
Following an investigation by the Grand County Sheriff’s Department, Richard Propster received a criminal summons on March 9 for violating Colorado Revised Statute 18-9-109 (2) for interference with staff, faculty or students of educational institutions.
At a West Grand School District meeting on March 26, the board agreed not to renew Propster’s contract.
Deputy District Attorney John Hatch recommended that Catanzarite dismiss the case, citing concerns with evidence.
